Filter Feature
I was tasked to design a filter feature for our enterprise users to have the ability to find and display the information (brands) they are searching for in the portal. My goal is to help users find and display the information (brands) they are searching for.

Challenge
How might we help users find and display the information (brands) they are searching for.
Design Hypothesis
Creating a filter feature will provide users with the ability to filter the data they have to be able to locate the information they needed.

UX Project Management/Planning
One thing I enjoy doing is planning the project before I start working on it. As they said "organization is key", well something like that.

Proto- Persona

To begin working on the filter feature for the portal, I facilitated a discovery workshop with the team; a product manager, a developer, stakeholders, and designers to brainstorm a wide set of ideas and create a shared vision. We then narrowed down the sketches by voting for the best idea and how we should proceed with the feature.
Wireframes
After completing and sharing the wireframe with my team. I learn that for a better user experience, it would be best if all of the features have the option to type the information they are looking for instead of only sorting.

Usability Testing & Prototype
After completing the prototype, I conducted a usability test with 3 users to understand if this new feature will help them in their everyday tasks. After reviewing their feedback, I will start this data to begin iterations.
Usability testing takeaways:
Usability testing takeaways:
1. Users said having an "Indicator of what is filtered"
2. Users would like to apply more than 1 criteria to a single filter
3. Users want the ability to download a filtered list of brands

High-Fidelity Prototype
In Conclusion
Designing the filter feature was really interesting, especially with all of the different filter options. I enjoyed conducting design studio, and user interviews, readouts to the team, scheduling meetings and facilitating workshops with our stakeholders, developers, designers, and product managers. I got to experiment and learn to write a usability script, share the findings with the team, and much more. This project helped built my leadership and communication skills while working in a team.
After completing the high-fidelity prototype, I pass it off to the next UX Designer to continue working on it if needed while the developers are working on it.
