Campaign Creation Platform Redesign

Screen Shot 2022-12-14 at 3.57.00 PM.png

As I continue adding tactics, audience targeting, and overall functionality while scaling our self-service business, I want to improve the campaign creation flow. One thing I had in mind while redesigning the campaign creation platform, is how might we improve the flow to scale for upcoming functionality so that we don't have to redesign or rearchitect the experience as often.

My Role: UX/UI Designer
Team: Sr. UX Designer, Sr. UX Researcher, Developers, Product Manager, Stakeholders

Tools: Miro, Figma, Pen & Paper

Project Duration: 4 Weeks

Challenge

1. Improve the order of the flow for better guidance

Screen Shot 2022-12-15 at 4.37.02 PM.png

2. Users are not able to set campaign objectives and audiences

3. The platform is not up-to-date

Competitive Analysis

Before I start working on the project and meeting with the team, I want to identify what my competitors are doing that makes them successful. Our current campaign creation platform is missing objective (the ultimate goal of the campaign), audience selection (a specific group of customers that are most likely to respond positively to the messages, products, and services), channels/tactics (if the information will be shared by email, social media, and text marketing), and creative (how the campaign ad will look like) to create a successful campaign for our customers which the proposed flow will include.

Discovery Workshop & Affinity Map

I facilitated a team workshop with our stakeholders, product manager, designers, and developers to share my findings from the competitive and comparative research on what the portal should have for our users to have the ability to create a successful campaign.

Workshop takeaway:

  1. Campaign objectives should dictate how the flow works

  2. People are split on the order of audience/channel

  3. Option to skip the creative step or add it later

  4. We need to make sure we align with the sales/media planner

  5. Upgrading should be easy and contextual (e.g. display what options go with higher tiers)

  6. Business rules impact configurations made throughout the creation process

Sketching

I like to go the traditional ways to generate ideas; pen, and paper. I start sketching ideas and shared them with my team.

Wireframes

As I start creating the wireframes on Figma, the number one thing I keep thinking about is "our users". I made sure every step and design have everything they need and guidance. They will have the ability to save the information they input, and the ability to get tips while creating the campaign (clicking on      ). Ability to see current and pending campaigns. Opportunity to save and use previously saved/existing campaigns.

Conclusion

Redesigning the portal was the first client project that I owned and lead. I enjoyed scheduling meetings and facilitating workshops with our stakeholders, developers, designers, and product managers. I got to experiment and learn different ways information on a platform can be filtered. Working in a team allowed me to collaborate and shared our different/unique ideas to create a solution for our users. Communication was key throughout the project with our stakeholders, users, and team members to ensure that all needs were met. This project helped built my leadership, collaboration, and communication skills while working in a team.

The next UX Designer will work on:

  • Set up a feedback session with stakeholder/relevant team

  • Incorporate feedback into the design

  • Create high-fidelity prototype

  • Usability test

  • Incorporate feedback into the design

  • Update the current platform with the new one
