Park Pet Supply

Tools: Pen, Paper, Miro, Sketch
My Role: User Experience Design/Research
Time: 2 weeks
I was challenged to...
Create an e-commerce website that gives pet lovers the ability to purchase pet supplies, ship them home or to the store.
What does Shantel want?

What problem does Shantel have?
Users need a website that provides the opportunity to purchase from the store inventory online, view items description, and view user reviews with the opportunity for in-store pick up.
How we might help?
-
How might we create local navigation for the products?
-
How might we create the products listing page?
-
How might we make an online ordering process?
Competitive Research
Park Pet Supplies
Positive:
-
Provide reviews from previous customers
-
Provide options for hands-on assistance contact information.

Negatives:
-
Confusing products page
-
Unable to order items online
-
Not able to see products descriptions
The Whole Dog Market
Positive:
-
Provide online shopping options
-
Have product price, details, and product description.

Negatives:
-
Reviews don’t seem like they are from a source (looks like they might add it themselves)
Indirect Competitor

What I learned from my interviews

-
Interviewed three pet owners that own either a cat or a dog.
-
Questions focused on the interviewees' relationship and behavior with their pets and factors that influence them to purchase things online such as:
-
How often do purchase things online for your pet?
-
What do you like about purchasing things online?
-
How much of an influence do reviews have on what you want to purchase?
-
What will Shantel's flow be?

Let's watch Shantel order things online
Prototype Video Walk Through
The video above will show you how to:

-
Read and close Covid-19 update
-
Search the site by using the search option
-
Read product descriptions and reviews
-
Option to check out as a guest or sign in to account
-
Continue shopping after checking out
Lesson Learned from Usability Test
I asked two users to purchase Purina dog food through browsing the category or through a search. I learned that:

-
The site is easy to use and clean.
-
“I would love the opportunity to search for the item instead of browsing”
-
The ability to add the item to the cart without reading descriptions or reviews.
-
Users would like to filter the product page instead of searching thru the page.
